Mechanical Engineer

We are an early-stage startup seeking a seasoned mechanical engineer who has a unique combination of mechanical technical expertise and product vision. We are creating an entirely new market space, and you will be responsible for ensuring the usability and function of biometric systems. You will work with the electrical engineering team to ensure product viability and report directly to the Head of Engineering. You will work cross-functionally with the business development, product management, and marketing teams as well as with the CEO and executive staff directly. This position is full time and relocation to Denver Colorado is required.  

What you’ll do: 

  • Self-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problems 
  • Design and prototyping of cutting-edge mechanical systems including CAD 
  • Perform tests in accordance with industry specifications and test plans. 
  • Collect data and complete data sheets accurately.
  • Applies laboratory principles and techniques to the testing of devices 
  • Communicate with the Laboratory Supervisor, Project Engineers, Production Personnel as necessary 
  • Work with short-run-shop/Contract R&D personnel to develop product fixtures and tooling needed for testing. 
  • Resolve testing problems, which surface throughout the testing program and in response to customer requests. 
  • Perform experiments in an independent & inventive manner 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications should include some of the following: 

  • Experience designing soft systems parts 
  • Experience developing high-use flexible systems 
  • Experience with basic electrical control systems is a plus 
  • Adaptability: broad interest in science and technology with a willingness and interest in expanding into new fields and learning new techniques and skills 
  • Excellent writing skills 
  • Solid understanding of numerical modeling, design of experiments, and prototype fabrication methods 
  • Experience conducting technology assessments and analysis of alternatives 
  • Proficient with MS Office 
  • Familiar with Solidworks 

What you’ll bring: 

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering required. Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. 
  • Strategic thinker with 3-5 years of experience in a mechanical engineering role 
  • R&D process experience

Senior Software Engineer

In short: you will own the Digital Mirror™

We are an early-stage startup seeking a seasoned Senior Full Stack Software Engineer who has significant, multidisciplinary, engineering experience with mobile-first applications, data integration, as well as working knowledge of data science. You will be the first full-time software engineer and the primary architect of Cipher Skin’s Digital Mirror. You will be responsible for growing, monitoring and leading a team of programmers while working with other senior engineers across disciplines. You will work with the exec staff to ensure the on-time delivery of the relevant product. You will answer directly to the CEO to start. This position is full-time and relocation to Denver, Colorado is required.

What you’ll do:

  • Own software features of the Digital Mirror: build, deploy, iterate. You’re responsible for what you’re building, and you have creative control over the direction you take
  • Ship code to production frequently, often daily
  • Work at all levels of the stack – infrastructure (GCP, Kubernetes), database (PostgreSQL, Redis, ElasticSearch), services (Node, Python, Celery, TensorFlow, Keras), and frontend (React, Redux)
  • Architect efficient and reusable systems
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers (electrical, mechanical, industrial, biomechanical) and business team to refine our Digital Mirror

Qualifications should include some of the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in one of the following is required from a top tier engineering program: Computer Science, Data Science, Symbolic Systems, Robotic Engineering, Mathematics, Physics
  • Experience and high fluency in firmware
  • Experience and high fluency in VR motion: mastery of converting Euler or quaternion coordinates into real-time 3D animation
  • Mastery of Ruby on Rails, Unity, C++
  • Familiar with Linux and Unix
  • At least 3 years of experience shipping software product for enterprise level or consumer-focused products; if you have done both that is preferred
